Pardons for BitMEX Founders Send Clear Message — Analyst

The White House announced pardons for BitMEX founders, Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, and Samuel Reed on Friday. According to Reuters, the move was confirmed in an email from BitMEX.

According to our in-house team, the move is part of a clear pattern where regulators are both signaling safety for future crypto endeavors as well as “making right” past instances of government overreach. Indeed, earlier this month, the SEC announced their suspension of a lawsuit against US crypto stalwart Kraken, and President Trump announced the bombshell pardon of Silk Road founder, Ross Ulbricht, in January.

“The political polarization of crypto is cause for concern, but what’s most important here is the undoing of past wrongs. Kraken is a good actor and that SEC lawsuit was bogus. The BitMEX charges are a little more murky in light of the facts, but pardoning these founders despite some laws potentially being broken sends a clear and positive message to innovators and is a clear win for crypto overall.”
